The first of the PLATO EBR 2017-18 Programmes Get Underway

19 September 2017

The first PLATO EBR Joint Networks for 2017-18 kicked off yesterday in Cootehill, Cavan. The Joint Monaghan-Cavan Cluster is composed of companies new to the PLATO network, all aspiring to grow their companies with the support of an outside board of directors of like-minded individuals.

The Cavan-Monaghan Group kicks off the 2017-18 Programme activity, for the PLATO EBR Region. This cluster group is composed of manufacturing and production-oriented SMEs, precision engineering, technology/digital, medical devices, energy companies and professional services.  The companies are all located within the Cavan and Monaghan Council areas. On Tuesday 19th September at 8am, the Monaghan/Cavan group met in the parent company premises, ABCON, Cootehill.

Facilitating the group is Lyn Sharkey, Sales and Marketing Director at Abcon Ireland, a longstanding Plato Leader Company in the region; and Joe Martin Commercial Export Manager with Lacpatrick and for many years prior with Town of Monaghan Co-op.

Participant companies had the opportunity to present their own individual company growth trajectories and their aspirations for their 10-month Programme. Lyn Sharkey from Abcon who has kindly agreed to host the PLATO meetings highlighted the growth journey of Abcon and the ongoing opportunities/challenges the company faces into the future. Dr Cecilia Hegarty of PLATO EBR thanked Lyn …”for the ongoing commitment of Abcon to PLATO and for hosting meetings”.

Joe Martin introduced the growth journey of Lacpatrick. Dr Cecilia Hegarty said “she was delighted to have both Lyn and Joe on board. No doubt participant companies will benefit throughout the course of the Programme from their experience and perspective but also they will be able to contrast that of a home-grown family business (Abcon) to that of a multi-national such is Joe’s experience in Lacpatrick.”

At the first meeting, participants were also introduced to the PLATO Model, Programme Structures and Partners. Cecilia said, “This PLATO Cluster should allow companies to realise their full potential over the next 10-months by holding participant companies accountable for their ongoing decision-making to better inform the strategic growth of the company.”

More information to appear shortly on participant companies.

PLATO EBR is currently over-subscribed; PLATO EBR is taking applications for other groupings in the region, subject to funding, if interested please APPLY NOW and/or send queries to
