The Cake and Crumb recently featured in the News Focus- Small Business Special section. This small but growing business was established in 2011 and is based in Glaslough, Co. Monaghan.  The Cake and Crumb is an Artisan Gluten and Wheat Free Bakery who have developed a range of ambient mixes and is fully accredited with The Coeliac Society of Ireland .

According to Lorraine Martin, founder of the Cake and Crumb, 2014 was a very good year for them; “The business was taken on board by Musgrave’s Food Academy and has graduated to its first Advance programme. We currently supply 31 stores nationally with our Bake and Home Range and some stores with our fresh baked range as well”. The Food Academy programme is a new initiative, delivered by Monaghan Local Enterprise Office in conjunction with Bord Bia and Musgraves.  The Cake and Crumb are also 1 of 14 members partaking in the PLATO EBR Food Cluster programme.

In addition to the above development Lorraine Martin continues; “ we launched in Dunnes Stores across the country and now supply 31 of their shops on a weekly basis from Cavan to Monaghan and Dublin. We have increased our turnover in 2014 by 30% and our productivity by 40%”
