18 September 2014

About the E-Tourism Cluster

PLATO EBR is recruiting micro-businesses and SMEs for its E-Tourism Cluster. PLATO EBR, which is funded by the EU INTERREG IVA Programme wishes businesses interested in exporting to join its E-Tourism Cluster of up to 20 companies through the PLATO EBR Programme to work through a series of workshops.

Programme aimed at: Local businesses with potential to develop new sales opportunities in cross border markets (NI, UK, ROI), via an integrated programme.

Objectives: The Cluster Programme will place a strong emphasis on digital innovation within the business and once completed participants should have an indepth understanding of the needs of the business and generating leads within the E-Tourism cluster.

Content: There will be a minimum of 6 half-day workshops which will be hosted in the East Border Region. At the first meeting each participant company will be assessed in order to customise the Programme to the needs of participants. Therefore indicative content is as follows:-

  • Why is e-commerce important in tourism?

    • Overcoming cross-border issues and isolation

    • Overcoming issues relating to your business – building your online brand

  • How to ‘do e-tourism’ for your business?

    • Developing you digital expertise, skills and infrastructure

    • Enhancing sales/making money from e-marketing (search optimisation), online sales, social media and mobile applications.

  • How to benefit from clustering?

    • Working within the cluster to develop and package products for end-users

    • Tourism portals

  • Enhancing competitiveness for tourism in the region

    • Developing a E-Tourism Cluster Action plan (to attract further supports for these participating businesses).

In addition, to the workshop element of the programme, it is envisaged that there will be guest speakers organised upon the request of participant companies. It is possible to have site visits to other tourism attractions of interest to participants in the Cluster.

Since PLATO EBR has a number of non-sector specific Groups operational across the East Border Region (circa 160 companies) and other Clusters (e.g. Food), participants who are members of the E-Tourism Cluster will have access to inter group and cross border networking with like-minded entrepreneurs.

Kindly note, that places are limited and applications will be assessed by panel.

Programme Begins: October 2014
