FM Environmental wins £750k deal with Walmart to supply 200 stores in Mexico

20 August 2013

Founded 35 years ago, FM Environmental has its head office in Newry and this deal represents a significant achievement for a company with a current annual turnover of £4 – 6 million.

The company is a past participant of PLATO and a current PLATO EBR Parent Company for the Newry and Mourne area. FM Environmental specialise in cutting edge grease removal and water treatment systems.

The company currently exports to over 30 markets, including the US, Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland, France and Russia.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Company marketing director Eamon Fitzpatrick said: "Winning this business from such a prestigious customer as Walmart is tremendously encouraging and will be of enormous benefit to us as we seek to grow our business in North America, now a key target market for us.

"It's a market with huge potential for our Grease Guardian equipment because of the scale of the fast food business, particularly in the US. We are focusing significant resources there to develop opportunities that we have already identified."

He said that focusing on international markets had helped it achieve 20% growth every year over the past few years.

"Invest NI's encouragement and practical support, particularly through the international visit programme, have been immensely important and has enabled us to position the business for further growth in the US, Europe and the Middle East."

FM Environmental also announced it had won the mechanical and electrical subcontract to supply and install three surface water pumping stations at Guernsey airport and its runways.

PLATO EBR would like to wish FM Environmental every success with this and future contracts in developing new markets.
